CAT6 Cable Overview
A Cat 6 cable is used primarily for computer networks able to receive at least one Gb of data exchange capacity or the 1000 Mbps or 1 Gbps classification. It has four pairs of copper wires that are used to support data transfer.
Cat6 cables are much more tightly wound than Cat5e cables, and their conductor and cable sheath are thicker than those of Cat5 cables.The effects of a Cat 6 cabling are primarily for networks transferring up to 1000Mbps or Gbps of data traffic (DTR) or higher. It is comprised of 4 pairs of twisted wires that transmit data.
There are two different types of CAT 6A cable that comply with these standards, shielded and unshielded, which are commonly referred to as F UTP and U UTP.
CAT6 wall outlets are typically used have only for computer networks with a transmission rate of up to 1 Gbps (GB), 1000 Mbps (Mbps), or gigabit per second. These outlets employ three or four pairs of copper wires, which are used for data transfer.
While Cat5e cables offer better transfer speeds at short distances, Cat6 cables provide higher specifications with stricter performance recommendations. There are thicker cable conductors and cable sheaths with Cat6 cables as well. Two types referred to as F UTP and U UTP are some of the many kinds of CAT6A cable that contain the unified specification.
